Red Triangle - Projects Blue Square - Practice Yellow Circle - News Triangle Shadow Square Shadow Circle Shadow

Architecton aims to make useful, beautiful and simple architecture that responds to its setting, human needs, history, and reflects living in a fair society.

The practice evolves designs from fundamental principles.  It is a journey of discovery, working with clients to understand the brief and the context, and then set up a dialogue between them that progressively generates appropriate spaces, structures and forms.  Drawings and hand made models are used to encourage as much engagement as possible in the early stages.

The rational expression of materials and structure is an ongoing concern that helps Architecton’s buildings to articulate what they are, and create intricate patterns and shadows that clearly define form.  The practice combines this with intelligent engagement with nature to respect and work with the environment.

An important part of the practice’s work is the rejuvenation of old buildings, many of which are historically significant.  Sensitive repair and minimal new insertions reinforce the existing sculptural patterns and surface textures.  This draws out the inherent character of old buildings to enhance them and their sense of history.

This broad philosophical approach results in designs that become an extension of a particular place, creating spaces that people want to enjoy being in.
